Foundation
Security+ establishes the common vocabulary every team assumes.
Defense
Blue team: SOC analyst concepts, SIEM, and incident response.
Offense
CEH or OSCP if red team is the goal; OSCP is the respected gatekeeper.
- Security+ first, always – it is the checkbox most HR filters require.
- Practise on sanctioned labs (TryHackMe, Hack The Box); certs alone hire nobody.
- Specialise: blue (SOC/IR) or red (pentest), then deepen, don’t broaden.
- Expect to keep learning weekly – the field resets its knowledge base every few years.
